About Hellophoto

Hellophoto began around 2009 as a New Zealand photography forum: landscapes, people, gear talk, lighting, macro and a busy “Help! I’m new” corner. Like plenty of forums it went quiet as conversations moved to social media, and eventually the site went offline.

We’ve brought the name back as a small, independent photography site. The forum threads and member galleries are not coming back, and none of the old posts or photos are reproduced here. What we’ve kept is the subject list and the tone: honest advice from people who shoot around Aotearoa in all weathers.

• Location notes for beaches, parks and city spots, with a nod to tides, weather and access rules.
• Rewritten versions of a few classic forum topics, at their old addresses.
• Photography around the home: renovations, listings, colour and detail shots.
